The beauty and form of the Art Deco era

A modern take on the Art Deco style has inspired the use of curves not just externally, but also internally through the staircase, joinery, furniture, and lighting to create a striking ‘statement’ home.  The carefully curated décor for the interior focuses on a monochromatic palette, bringing in a mix of warm and cool tones to add tactile layers to the spaces of the home.  The monochrome colour scheme is continued with integrated garden beds and fences that feel as if they are an extension of the architecture, and structured hedge planting create another horizontal layer around the property. This layering of large walls gives the home a solid grounding and weight which is offset by the sailing, cantilevered canopy that projects over the pool and rear terrace area.

Upon entry, there is an informal lobby that hints at the striking architecturally designed spiral stairs to the upper level.  The grey travertine-look tile used as the feature platform for the stairs in the main living area creates a soft contrast between the stairs and the main floor.  This living space is dominated by the sculptural vertical stair shaft that cuts through the lower and upper ceilings and is emphasised by a circular roof window that refracts lights on the array of organic forms below.

The grand master bedroom is warmed by timber tones mixed with soft stone tiles for a sense of snug comfort and a timber privacy screen into the ensuite filters the light between the rooms. The upstairs level is home to 3 bedrooms, with a private ensuite to the larger of the 3 generously sized rooms, all serviced by a retreat that provides a sanctuary from the rest of the home.

A masterfully created home that pays homage to the beauty and form of the Art Deco era, yet exudes a timeless grace that will stand the test of time.
